“Today, our state witnessed our first Black Governor take his oath of office with his hand on Frederick Douglass’ bible on the steps of a state building that was built on the backs of enslaved peoples,” said CAIR’s Maryland director Zainab Chaudry. “On behalf of CAIR, we congratulate Governor Wes Moore and Lt. Governor Aruna Miller, and pray for their success and guidance as they lead our state forward as the most diverse leadership of any state in the country.”
She noted that following his victory in the elections, CAIR submitted 11 policy priorities for Governor Moore.
