CAIR-DFW, Civic and Religious Leaders to Promote Mutual Understanding with Interfaith Book Discussion Series

(DALLAS, TX, 1/9/2018) – Beginning January 15, the Dallas-Fort Worth chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-DFW) will launch an interfaith book discussion series to promote mutual understanding throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

CAIR-DFW’s initiative, “Developing a Fearless Heart: An Interfaith Effort to Cultivate Compassion,” revolves around the book “A Fearless Heart” by Dr. Thupten Jinpa, the principal translator for the Dalai Lama. The program will include five panel discussions featuring community and religious leaders and will culminate in a keynote lecture by Dr. Jinpa at First United Methodist Church Dallas.

“CAIR-DFW is proud to pioneer this unique initiative,” said CAIR-DFW Community Development Director Inayat Sahin.“This is an opportunity for us to promote mutual understanding and empathy between different religions and to enhance community spirit through the binding theme of compassion.”

Panelists in the book discussions include, Imam Omar Suleiman of the Yaqeen Institute, Dr. Andy Stoker of First United Methodist Church Dallas, Rabbi Nancy Kasten of Faith Forward Dallas, Rabbi Elana Zelony of Congregation Beth Torah, and Amy Hofland, the executive director of the Crow Collection of Asian Art.

All events are free and open to the public.
