CAIR-FL Seeks Civil Rights, Administrative Coordinators


The CAIR-Florida’s Tampa Chapter has two immediate openings for experienced persons to fill the positions of Civil Rights Coordinator and Administrative Coordinator. These are full-time position based in Tampa.


JOB DESCRIPTION: This person will be responsible (among other responsibilities) for intake and documentation of complaints of religious/ethnic discrimination, referral and coordination with other civil rights organizations, legal research – especially as related to civil rights issues, working with employers, schools and other organizations on religious accommodations, cultural sensitivity trainings to various organizations, businesses and government agencies and relationship building with other community partners.

Successful applicant should have excellent research, writing and verbal skills that are needed in the preparation of case briefs, summaries and department publications.

QUALIFICATIONS: A college degree in paralegal studies, political science, social work, or related field. Detail oriented, good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work in a team. The ideal candidate will possess superior communication (both verbal and written) skills, a solid understanding of civil rights and equality issues relating to Islam, and an outgoing and proactive disposition. Applicant must also possess knowledge of general office procedures and software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc) and Internet research.

Experience of working with non-profit organizations and Muslim groups will be an asset.


JOB DESCRIPTION: The successful candidate will be responsible for (among other things) general administrative and office management duties, communicating with members, organizing office meetings/events, and handling accounts payables/receivables.

QUALIFICATIONS: A college degree in business, communications, information technology or equivalent working experience is required. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 2 years administrative, management and/or customer service experience. Good organization, clerical and bookkeeping skills are required. The candidate should be a, self-motivated, self-starter and demonstrate the ability to operate in a self-directed environment. Excellent customer service and phone skills a must. Superb communication skill in English is a must, and other language skills desirable. This position also requires a strong working knowledge of MS Office and experience in database entry.
