CAIR-FL Seeks Executive Director, Civil Rights Coordinator

CAIR-FL SEEKS ORLANDO EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, TAMPA CIVIL RIGHTS COORDINATOR – TOP

CAIR-Florida has two immediate openings in their Orlando and Tampa chapters for experienced persons to fill the positions of Executive Director (Orlando) and Civil Rights Coordinator (Tampa). These are full-time position based in beautiful sunny Florida.

ORLANDO EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Position: The successful candidate will run the day-to-day affairs of the CAIR-Orlando office and will report directly to the board of directors. The ideal candidate will be responsible for:

Interacting and building relations with local agencies, organizations and officials
Communicating and empowering Muslim community and institutions
Media relations and acting as the spokesperson of the chapter
Leading foundering campaigns and increasing membership
Managing and leading chapter staff, departments and committees
Qualifications: The ideal candidate must demonstrate understanding of CAIR’s mission, purpose, goals and objectives. Additionally, must be self motivated, creative, energetic and positive. The successful candidate must also posses the following skills:

A four year college degree and three years experience or equivalent
Excellent inter-personal skills
Ability to work effectively with volunteers
Strong verbal and written communication abilities
Public speaking and presentations
Good organizational skills
Ability to work with deadlines and priorities

TAMPA CIVIL RIGHTS COORDINATOR – TOP

Position: This person will be responsible (among other responsibilities)

Intake, documentation, investigation and arbitration of discrimination complaints
Legal research as it relates to civil rights issues
Working with employers, schools, and organizations to promote religious accommodation
Conduct cultural sensitivity and know-your-rights presentations to agencies and groups
Relationship building with other community partners and government agencies
Successful applicant should have excellent research, writing and verbal skills that are needed in the preparation of case briefs, summaries and department publications.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate must demonstrate understanding of CAIR’s mission, purpose, goals and objectives. The successful candidate must also posses the following:

A college degree law, paralegal studies or related field and three years experience or equivalent
Excellent inter-personal and organizational skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Public speaking and presentations
A solid understanding of civil rights and equality issues relating to Islam
Good research skills as it relates to case law and investigation tools
Experience of working with non-profit organizations and Muslim groups will be an asset.
