(MIAMI, FL – 8/29/2018) — The Florida chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Florida) today condemned attorney Tommy Gregory’s attendance at an event hosted by Peter Gemma, described by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) as “part of the American Holocaust denial movement.” Gregory is the GOP nominee in state House District 73.
It has been reported that on Aug. 13, after attending Gemma’s party, Gregory posted on his Facebook account: “I’m very thankful for Cathy & Peter Gemma hosting a wonderful meet & greet event last night”. . .The attendees were all concerned with the erosion of Constitutional Rights, Establishment/Swamp Politics, the lack of American Civics classes, and Illegal Immigration. We have a lot of work to do!” The Daily Commercial reported that the post included a picture of Gregory and his wife posing with Gemma and his wife.
In a statement, CAIR-Florida Communications Director Wilfredo Amr Ruiz said:
“Tommy Gregory owes an apology to the Florida Jewish community and to all Floridians. We condemn his attendance at a party organized by people associated with Holocaust deniers and white nationalists. Instead of uttering frivolous excuses, Gregory should apologize for his bad judgment in attending this repugnant event.”
