CAIR-Houston Calls on Community Members to Report Hate Incidents After Muslim Woman Harassed Outside Kroger Store

(HOUSTON, TX, 2/28/19) – The Houston chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR-Houston) is calling on members of the local community to report any bias incidents after a Muslim woman was verbally harassed as she exited a Kroger grocery store on Westheimer.

She was told to go “back to her country” by another customer. The victim, Mai Mohamed, was able to record the woman yelling at her and shared her story on Facebook after which CAIR-Houston was alerted of the incident. CAIR-Houston has been working with the family to complete police reports and continue follow-ups with Kroger.
