CAIR: ‘Gives bigots a green light’: Leaders speak out after President Trump shares photo of Minnesota children – KARE

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said the post is inflammatory, anti-Muslim, and puts the children in the video at risk.

“By using his global platform to amplify anti-Muslim bigotry and target Muslim children at this elementary school, President Trump is putting lives at risk. Just two months ago, two white supremacists attacked a mosque and private school full of children in San Diego. Children deserve to feel safe in their schools and communities. When a political leader validates hate speech, it gives bigots a green light to target minority children. We call on all people of conscience, regardless of political affiliation, to reject this dangerous escalation of religious hatred,” CAIR and CAIR-MN said in a statement.

CAIR-MI: John James, Republican running for governor, relates Dearborn religious procession to extremism – Michigan Public

The Michigan chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations, the largest Muslim civil rights organization in the U.S., condemned those remarks as running counter to the rights James said he fought to defend – including freedom of religion.

“Mr. James is literally labeling the First Amendment, constitutionally protected right of freedom of assembly, as somehow un-American and attached to extremism,” CAIR Michigan’s executive director Dawud Walid told Michigan Public. “We find this to be highly problematic especially from an individual who is a veteran defending the rights of Americans.”
