CAIR: Advocacy Group Calls For Investigation After Claiming Elementary School Student Was Heckled For Performing Palestinian Poem – The MoCo Show

“We are appalled by this reportedly obnoxious behavior by a grown adult towards a young child and the lack of action and support from the school administration,” said CAIR Maryland Director Zainab Chaudry. “This incident underscores the urgent need for inclusivity and respect for all cultures and voices in our educational institutions. Schools should be safe spaces for students to express their heritage and share their stories without fear of harassment or intimidation.”

CAIR: Travel company hired by Maryland couple who died in Mecca was ‘not in good standing’ – FOX

“It’s really important to do your homework on travel agencies. Ask the leadership at your local mosque which agencies they recommend, and then check those agencies out online, as well. Best is if you have friends and family who have used a particular travel agency,” said Corey Saylor, the research and advocacy director for the Council on American-Islamic Relations. “When you pick a particular travel agency, rules about getting visas for Hajj have changed recently. Make sure the company you’re working with understands that because that will be an indicator they’re up to speed.”

CAIR-OK: Oklahoma state superintendent orders schools to teach the Bible in grades 5 through 12 – Associated Press

The head of the Oklahoma chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations criticized the directive as a clear violation of the Constitution’s Establishment Clause, which prohibits the government from “establishing” a religion.

“We adamantly oppose any requirements that religion be forcefully taught or required as a part of lesson plans in public schools, in Oklahoma, or anywhere else in the country,” Adam Soltani said in a statement.

CAIR-OK: Ryan Walters: Bible must be taught in schools, strict compliance expected – The Oklahoman

Among those criticizing Walters’ action was the Oklahoma chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

“We adamantly oppose any requirements that religion be forcefully taught or required as a part of lesson plans in public schools, in Oklahoma, or anywhere else in the country,” said CAIR-OK’s executive director, Adam Soltani. “Religious freedom, as outlined in the Constitution, allows for the academic instruction of religion in subjects such as geography, social studies, and history. To require religious scripture, regardless of which one it may be, to be incorporated into lessons in our schools, however, is a clear violation of the Constitution’s establishment clause and infringes on the rights of our students and their families.”

Zahra Billoo, executive director of the Bay Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, cautioned that training about antisemitism should not “falsely label anti-Zionism as equivalent to antisemitism, despite any pressure from pro-Israel groups.”

Billoo said she was optimistic that the university leadership would keep its agreement with the students who took down their tent encampment.

“Training on Islamophobia is critical but must be supplemented by training on anti-Palestinian racism, which is comparably on an unprecedented rise since the Israeli genocide in Gaza began,” she said.

CAIR-MN: American Muslim rights groups calls Don Samuels Islamaphobic. – MinnPost

The latest is a flap over an interview Samuels did this week with WCCO, which provoked a reaction from the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) chapter in Minnesota. CAIR-MN condemned what it called Samuels’ Islamophobic attack on Omar, who was born in Somalia. The offending statement was Samuel’s contention that Omar is a “pawn” of Hamas.
