CAIR: Why Trump’s vision of post-war Gaza has gained little traction – Roll Call

“Jared Kushner and anyone else suggesting that the Israeli government should ethnically cleanse millions of Palestinians from their land for the sake of beachfront property is either genocidal or delusional — or both,” Edward Ahmed Mitchell, national deputy director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization in the U.S., wrote in a statement prepared for Roll Call. He was referring to Trump’s son-in-law and former White House adviser.

CAIR: Washington US House candidate voices opposition to Muslims serving in Congress – The Spokesman-Review

Imraan Siddiqi, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations in Washington, said the statements highlight “just how pervasive Islamophobia is in our society, and that it is viewed as an acceptable form of bigotry.”

For Sessler to tout his position shows he doesn’t “feel there is a political price to pay,” he said…

Siddiqi said a survey his group did earlier this year found 82% of Muslims in Washington had experienced bias, hate or discrimination in the past year. It also found that, in general, younger and less educated Muslims experienced more discrimination, and women and visibly Muslim people were more likely to feel unsafe due to their personal characteristics.

In light of the findings and views of candidates like Sessler, “it is imperative that Washington’s leaders stand up against Islamophobia,” Siddiqi said.

CAIR-San Diego: Council on American-Islamic Relations hosts press conference at UC San Diego about anti-Palestinian and anti-Arab racism – UCSD Guardian

In a closing statement, CAIR representative Omar Abusham reiterated the importance of student voices and representation on campus, calling for action from the university.

“UCSD, which champions itself as a space for inclusion and equity, must match this by action,” Abusham said. “Now is the time for UCSD to demonstrate that inclusion and equity [should be prioritized], and not just by saying words, but [by instating] core values that guide real, meaningful action. We must demand more from our institution because our students — all students — do not deserve anything less.”

CAIR-Austin: As lawmakers consider mask ban at protests, public expresses concerns about health, free speech – KUT

Shaimaa Zayan, operations manager for the Texas chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, testified masks are also used for religious reasons, particularly by some Muslim women. Zayan also said a mask ban would allow law enforcement to interfere in peaceful protests simply because individuals were wearing masks.

CAIR: Robert Saleh is asked if wearing Lebanese flag caused Jets firing – how did he respond? – FOX

Shortly after Saleh’s firing, the Council on American–Islamic Relations (CAIR) released a statement that called on the Jets and Johnson to explain multiple reports that Saleh was allegedly escorted out of the building by security following his firing, and also brought up the fact that Saleh was fired just days after wearing the pin.

“We commend coach Robert Saleh for making history as the first American Muslim head coach in NFL history. Although no one should jump to conclusions about why the Jets fired Coach Saleh, the report that Jets security physically escorted Saleh out of the building does raise concerns about the possible motive for such unusual hostility – especially given that Saleh wore a Lebanese flag pin at a game just days ago.”
