CAIR-MN: Community activists call for stricter standards following substitute teacher’s reenactment of George Floyd murder – Pioneer Press
In a statement last week, activists called for stricter screening for substitutes.
“This act is not only deeply offensive but also retraumatizes our community,” said Jaylani Hussein, executive director of CAIR Minnesota, in the Friday statement. “Such behavior has no place in our schools. We demand a full investigation, immediate action, and clear answers to the many questions parents and community have about this incident.”

Jaylani Hussein with the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) says the Somali community is deeply concerned after two drowning cases in just four months.
“The impact of autism on our community is extremely high,” Hussein said.
He says parent groups are already discussing ideas to improve safety, such as increased access to swimming lessons, signs that warn the community a child with autism lives nearby, and resources for parents so they can secure their homes.

“The State Department and the Department of Justice must investigate these credible charges of widespread and systematic human rights abuses by military forces that receive weapons paid for by American taxpayers and used against a civilian population,” Nihad Awad, the national executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said in a statement.

A survey carried out in late August by the Council on American-Islamic Relations found that in Michigan, a battleground Midwest state that is home to a large Arab-American community, 40 percent of Muslim voters back Stein, leaving Trump with 18 percent and Harris with 12 percent.
The CAIR survey also found significant support for Stein among Muslims in other key states, including Wisconsin (44 percent), Arizona (35 percent) and Pennsylvania (25 percent).
