(WASHINGTON, D.C., 11/4/2023) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today joined a “massive, diverse and historic” national March for a ceasefire and Palestinian freedom in Washington, D.C.
The march, organized by a broad coalition of civil rights, human rights, anti-war, and community organizations, appears to be the largest demonstration ever held for Palestinian human rights in the United States.
Tens of thousands of demonstrators joined from around the nation, creating a crowd that extended multiple city blocks. CAIR’s National Executive Director Nihad Awad, a Palestinian-American, gave a speech at the rally.

In a statement, CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad said:
“We thank the tens of thousands of Americans of all faiths and backgrounds who came together to call on President Biden and other elected officials to stop supporting the Israeli government’s genocidal attacks on civilians in Gaza, demand an immediate ceasefire, and then pursue a just, lasting peace by securing an end to the occupation. We must keep up the pressure until this present violence ends and a just peace prevails.”
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
