(ANAHEIM, CA, 5/15/06) – On Saturday, May 20, the Southern California office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-LA) will honor nine young Muslims for their outstanding contributions to the community at the annual “Entertainment Night for Civil Rights.” The Muslim youths will be recognized for their work in civic, social and religious activities.
Special recognition will also be given to the League of United Latin American Citizens, Santa Ana Council President Zeke Hernandez for his exceptional work in civil rights.
For the third year in a row, CAIR-LA asked the community to nominate young people dedicated to improving the lives of people in their communities. CAIR-LA then selected qualified individuals to be recognized and will reward them with certificates and monetary awards, thanks to generous donations of local business leaders.
The “Entertainment Night for Civil Rights” will feature comedy from the popular Muslim group, “Allah Made Me Funny.”
