#CAIRChallenge urges Muslims to help register five people to vote
(WASHINGTON, D.C., 9/26/16) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nationâ€™s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today launched #CAIRChallenge â€“ a voter registration initiative in which participants pledge to register five people to vote.
To assist Muslim in registering to vote, CAIR is encouraging individuals to make use of CAIR's â€œRock the Voteâ€ online voter registration tool.
CAIR is also asking Muslim voters to share photographs and videos of their stories of registering people to vote by posting items on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snap Chat, Vine â€“ and including the hashtag #CAIRChallenge.
As part of the #CAIRChallenge, CAIR is releasing a series of videos to encourage Americans Muslims to exercise their civic duty and vote. The first #CAIRChallenge video features CAIR-MN Executive Director Jaylani Hussein.
â€œAs citizens, it is our duty to educate ourselves about the civic process and to participate in that process,â€ said CAIR National Communications Coordinator Nabeelah Naeem. â€œOur diversity is what makes us stronger as a nation.â€
She added that it is important to involve young people in the political process.
Later today, CAIR chapters nationwide will host Muslim voter viewing parties during the first presidential debate.
