CAIR-Minnesota to Call for Hate Crime Probe of Attack on Muslim DoorDash Driver

(MINNEAPOLIS, MN, 11/7/19) – Later today, the Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Minnesota) will hold a news conference to call for a hate crime investigation of an alleged bias-motivated attack in the early hours of Sunday October 27 in Excelsior, Minn., targeting a Muslim DoorDash driver.

The driver was allegedly hit repeatedly by a customer shouting “go back to your country” and other Islamophobic, xenophobic and racist slurs. A bystander who witnessed the incident reportedly came to the aid of the victim before law enforcement arrived. The alleged attacker was arrested near the scene of the assault and victim sought medical treatment.
