CAIR-Minnesota to Join Nationwide Rallies Against Human Rights Violations in India

(Minneapolis, MN, 9/21/2019) – On Sunday, Sept. 22, the Minnesota chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR-MN), along with other local social justice groups, will hold a rally against the increasing human rights violation in India.

On Sunday Prime Minister Narenda Modi will be in Houston with President Trump. Across the nation protests and rallies are organized to bring to light the Indian government’s renewed oppression of Kashmir and ongoing, well-documented human rights abuses targeting minority Muslim, Dalit, and Christian communities in India.

Since the election of the Prime Minister in 2014, there has been a 400 percent increase in hate crime violence against Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, and Dalits, and leaders of his political party, Bharatiya Janata Party, have been credibly accused of both emboldening this violence and failing to forcefully condemn it.

Community members impacted by this human rights crisis will share their stories.
