CAIR-Missouri Condemns Gun Store for Celebrating the Mass Murder of 50 Muslims in New Zealand

(ST. LOUIS, MO, 3/18/19) – The Missouri chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Missouri), a chapter of the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned gun-supply store Tactical S**t for giving Islamophobes, white supremists and bigots a platform to celebrate the mass murder of 50 Muslims in New Zealand.

On Sunday, the gun-supply store posted a poll on Facebook asking its followers whether Friday’s massacre of Muslims in New Zealand: “Was the incident a tragedy or “f##king great?”

Fifteen percent of people polled voted for the mass murder as something great. The gun-supply store then posted another image in which they described the mass murder as “one guy shooting Muslims in revenge.”

“I’m at a complete at a loss of words after this store owner decided to celebrate mass murder, give a safe space to white supremacists and justify the mass murder of worshipers as ”˜taking revenge,’” said Faizan Syed, executive director of CAIR-Missouri. “What’s worse is how the massacre is treated as a joke. The murder of 3-year-olds, grandparents, mothers and fathers is not funny, unless you are not human.”

CAIR-Missouri is calling on peoples of all faiths and conscience to call the store at (636)244-3424 to express your concerns.

The posts were put online the same day hundreds gathered for a vigil to mourn and remember those who lost their lives.

The Washington-based Muslim civil rights organization has reported an unprecedented spike in bigotry targeting American Muslims, immigrants and members of other minority groups since the election of Donald Trump as president and has repeatedly expressed concern about Islamophobic, white supremacist and racist Trump administration policies and appointments.

CAIR is America’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, protect civil rights, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.

La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
