(SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ, 9/19/2019) – On Saturday, Sept. 21, the New Jersey Chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR-NJ) and Stand With Kashmir will join an inter-faith coalition of civil rights activists and allies at a protest in New Brunswick in opposition to the Indian government’s renewed oppression of Kashmir, a Muslim-majority region of India.
The protest is co-sponsored by CAIR-NJ, Stand with Kashmir, Sikhs for Justice, Jewish Voice for Peace, Central NJ Democratic Socialists of America, Black Lives Matter, and other allies and organizations.
Protesters will call on elected officials to stand against India’s occupation of Kashmir, demand the immediate restoration of mobile and landlines in the region and call for an end to the curfew and for the complete demilitarization of the region.
