CAIR-NY Welcomes Empire State Building’s Recognition of Eid

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 10/15/2007) – The New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today called on Muslims and other people of conscience to thank Empire State Building management for illuminating the building with green lights to honor the Muslim celebration of Eid-al-Fitr.

Each year the building is illuminated in recognition of Christmas and Hannukah.

“This is a gratifying sign that America not only recognizes diversity, but also celebrates it,” said CAIR National Board Chairman Parvez Ahmed. “We extend our thanks to those involved in the decision.”
