CAIR-OH REP APPOINTED TO BOARD OF INTERFAITH CENTER FOR PEACE
(COLUMBUS, OH, 4/19/07) – CAIR-OH Executive Director Adnan Mirza has been appointed to the executive board of the Interfaith Center for Peace. Mirza was one of three people to receive the prestigious three-year appointment and is the first Muslim representative on the board.
The Interfaith Center for Peace opened in 1982 as a community education program dealing with many issues of peacemaking. Today, the Center is known throughout the United States for its work in conflict resolution and peacemaking education. Responding in faith to the wisdom of spiritual leaders throughout human history, the Interfaith Center for Peace teaches people, by deed and example, how to be peacemakers in their own places.
CAIR, America’s largest Muslim civil liberties group, has 32 offices and chapters nationwide and in Canada. The CAIR-Ohio Chapter has three offices – Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
