BACKGROUNDER: Hindutva is an ideology that espouses the supremacy of Hinduism and seeks to build a pure nation of Hindus in India. While this is a fascist ideology that has been present for many years, most recently, two Muslim men were brutally murdered by police during protests in India. And there’s been a spike in illegal arrests and bulldozing of Muslim homes.
This India-related Islamophobic movement has also been growing in the U.S. over the past decade.
