(OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, 2/16/2016) – On Wednesday, February 17, the Council on American-Islamic Relations Oklahoma Chapter (CAIR-OK) and the American Civil Liberties Union of Oklahoma (ACLU of OK) will hold a news conference in Oklahoma City to announce the filing of landmark litigation against a so-called “Muslim-free†gun range in Oktaha, Okla.
The Muslim plaintiff in the lawsuit will take part in the news conference.
WHAT: Press Conference to Announce Civil Rights Litigation Against ‘Muslim-Free’ Gun Range
WHEN:Â Wednesday, February 17, 10 a.m. (Central Time)
WHERE:Â Oklahoma State Capitol Broadcast Press Room (Room 432B), 2300 N. Lincoln Ave., Oklahoma City, 73105
Wednesday’s news conference comes after CAIR-OK challenged the “Muslim-free†gun range for violating civil rights law by displaying a sign stating that Muslims were banned from the facility.
“For an establishment to ban someone based on their religion is not just reprehensible – it is against the law,†said Veronica Laizure, civil rights director for CAIR-OK. “We hope that these owners and others around the country will comply with civil rights law and stop refusing service to customers in this discriminatory and unconstitutional manner.â€
