CAIR-OK Welcomes #HateFreeOKC Interfaith Solidarity Rally During Friday Prayers

CAIR logo(OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, 12/11/15) – Later today, the Interfaith Alliance will hold a #HateFreeOKC Solidarity Rally during Jummah (Friday congregational prayer) at the Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City to show support for the Oklahoma Muslim community and to stand against Islamophobia. This rally comes in the wake of an increase in anti-Muslim sentiment and hate crimes as well as increased hate rhetoric from Donald Trump.

The interfaith community of Oklahoma City organized this event after many voiced concern over the heightened levels of Islamophobia that have been dominating the US news cycle. CAIR-OK, the Interfaith Alliance, and our interfaith partners invite all community members to greet attendees of the Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City after Jummah for a peaceful show of support to demonstrate solidarity with American Muslims. Community members are encouraged to bring signs with the #HateFreeOKC message.

This is the second #HateFreeOKC event to take place in the metro area since CAIR-OK launched this initiative to promote building bridges of peace and understanding and combat messages of hate.
