WHAT: CAIR-OK Press Conference with Victim of Anti-Muslim Attack
WHEN: Friday, January 4 at 12:30 pm
WHERE: CAIR-OK Office, 3000 United Founders Blvd., Suite 226, Oklahoma City, OK 73112
CONTACT: Adam Soltani, CAIR-OK Executive Director, firstname.lastname@example.org, 405-248-5853
The attacker reportedly told the victim and her mother to go “back to their country” and allegedly hit Jenan, resulting in a concussion.
“In this day and age, it is unthinkable that people are still being targeted on the basis of their religious practices,” said CAIR-OK Civil Rights Director Veronica Laizure. “It is imperative that crimes against Muslim women are treated as hate crimes and that we continue to educate people on how to treat each other with respect.”
The Washington-based Muslim civil rights organization has noted an unprecedented spike in bigotry targeting American Muslims and members of other minority groups since the election of Donald Trump as president.
