CAIR Sacramento/Central CA to Hold Virtual Press Conference Seeking Justice for Sacramento Resident Omar Ameen

(SACRAMENTO, CA, 1/27/22) – On Monday, Jan. 31, the Sacramento Valley/Central California office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-SV/CC) will hold a virtual press conference with Omar Ameen’s legal team and partner organizations after his hearing at the immigration court in Van Nuys.  

This is an opportunity to hear directly from Ameen’s lawyers about the unique challenges they have been facing in securing justice for Omar in immigration court despite his exoneration by a federal judge.

BACKGROUND: Sacramento area resident, father of four, and Iraqi refugee, Omar Ameen, has been held for over three years now on false terrorism allegations which two courts have rejected. A current petition alleges that his continued detention in these circumstances violates the Due Process Clause and the Immigration and Nationality Act. Omar Ameen is fighting for his freedom and to stay in the U.S.
