In a statement, CAIR-San Diego Executive Director Tazheen Nizam said:
“We are appalled by the recent stabbing of an African-American teenager in Santee, and we and our allies stand in solidarity with the victim’s family. What makes it more appalling is that there were allegedly adults involved, including the assailant’s father who reportedly stood by and witnessed the attack and did not step in.”
“This attack shows all the signs of being motivated by hate, and we call on the sheriff’s department to investigate it as a hate crime.”
She said CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, and white supremacy.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
