Civil Rights Organization Encourages Increased Vigilance, Security Measures
(BALTIMORE, MD, 3/6/19) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today strongly condemned a threat made by a Maryland man to “kill all Muslims,” and said that it is one more indicator of the unprecedented rise in islamophobia sweeping across the United States.

According to police, the individual – who has a documented history of mental illness – has threatened to “shoot and kill all Muslims” on at least two separate occasions. Charging documents reveal that law enforcement officers were called to an area hospital in January after he confessed that he’d hidden a gun in a public area.
He was charged in January with one misdemeanor count which carries up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
“Our state’s and communities’ safety is a top priority as anti-Muslim bigotry continues to manifest in disturbing ways,” said CAIR Director of Maryland Outreach Zainab Chaudry. “Although this individual has been charged, we urge elected officials to condemn this threat and encourage the Glen Burnie area Muslim community to remain vigilant, exercise precaution, and report suspicious behavior to law enforcement and to CAIR.”
CAIR has documented a significant increase in attacks on American Muslims across the country since 2016.
