(SANTA CLARA, CA, 9/22/2020) – The San Francisco Bay Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-SFBA) will host a series of virtual candidate forums beginning tomorrow, September 23, for candidates running for Sunnyvale City Council.
At the event, members of the Muslim community from Sunnyvale will hear from elected officials from Districts 2, 4, and 6. Confirmed candidates include: Hina Siddiqui. Josh Grossman, and Alysa Cisneros for District 2, Sunnyvale Councilmember Russ Melton for District 4, and Omar Din and Charlotte Thornton for District 6.

CAIR-SFBA has scheduled five additional candidates’ forums:
· September 30 at 5:30pm:San Ramon Mayor
· October 7 at 5:30pm: Santa Clara City Council Districts 1, 4, 5, and 6
· October 12 at 5:00pm: Dublin City Council
· October 13 at 5:30pm: Oakland Mayor
· October 21 at 5:30pm: Fremont Mayor

“This election may be one of the most important in recent years, and COVID-19 related health guidelines are changing how we educate and mobilize voters. Our candidate forums and related events will be hosted entirely virtually this year to provide an opportunity for voters to ask questions and meet with the candidates who will serve their community,” said CAIR-SFBA Government Relations Coordinator Sameena Usman.
