(SAINT LOUIS, MO., 12/17/2015): Later today, the Islamic Foundation of Greater St. Louis (IFGSTL), the Imam Council of Greater St. Louis, and the St. Louis Chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-STL), with support from the #BringThemHere Campaign, will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for Bait Ulmal (House of Good), a social service center for refugees and struggling families.

â€œIslam is a religion built on charity, helping others, and giving backâ€ said Adil Imdad Social Service Chair for IFGSTL. â€œThis center will not only help refugees from Syria, Somalia, Bosnia and around the world but is open for everyone regardless of faith or if they are refugeesâ€.
The program will include speeches by community leaders, prayers given by local Imams, followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony and tours of the building.
â€œAs a police chaplain I see a lot of things. I see how people struggleâ€ said Police Chaplain Dzemal Bijedic. Bijedic helped launch the project after privately collecting donations to help Syrian refugees in Saint Louis.
â€œThe last couple of weeks have been really tough for American Muslimsâ€ said Faizan Syed Executive Director of CAIR-STL. â€œThis center is and will be a shining example of what Islamâ€™s emphasis on charity and helping humanity. This is what Islam is and Iâ€™m proud to be an American Muslim supporting this effort.â€
