(WASHINGTON, D.C., 10/23/17) – We invite the community to join us in honoring pioneering diplomat, researcher, scholar, and teacher Dr. Sulayman S. Nyang at CAIR’s 23rd annual banquet on Saturday, October 28, at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Va.

At the banquet, Dr. Nyang will receive CAIR’s “Lifetime Achievement Award.” Please purchase your tickets today so that you may help us honor Dr. Nyang.

Dr. Nyang has spent his life working to foster greater understanding of Islam in America. He has written and spoken extensively on Islam, Africa and Middle Eastern issues, publishing 11 books — including the highly-acclaimed “Islam in America.” Dr. Nyang has also mentored and supervised the work of hundreds of graduate students and many more undergraduates, both at Howard University in Washington, D.C., and at other institutions of higher learning.

In past years, the banquet has sold out. No tickets will be sold at the door, so register TODAY to reserve your place.

With the theme “Living Our Faith: Defending Freedom,” CAIR’s banquet will feature a number of nationally-known speakers and awardees, including:

  • Imam Suhaib Webb, Islamic Scholar and Community Leader
  • Arizona U.S. Senate Candidate Deedra Abboud
  • Azhar Azeez, President of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA)
  • Comedian Jeremy McLellan

Banquet attendees will also hear from the surviving hero and from relatives of the two men who gave their lives in defense of others in Oregon.
