For educators, administrators, counselors, and other school staff. This session will cover common Islamic religious practices as they interact with a typical K-12 school day and provide practical guidance on how to support Muslim students and their families in the classroom and beyond. Topics will include daily prayers, fasting during Ramadan, religious attire, and holidays, as well as strategies to address anti-Muslim discrimination when it is on the rise. We’ll also cover CAIR’s “Hostile Campus” initiative, discussing how colleges and universities are empowering, or shutting down, Muslim students during a time of rising Islamophobia. Participants will gain a better understanding of students’ needs and learn strategies to foster a safe, respectful, and welcoming school community for all.
