In a statement, CAIR National Board Chair Dr. Manal Fakhoury said:

“Ben Cohen is a historic entrepreneur, philanthropist and activist who has spent decades working to advance peace, justice and human dignity. As the co-founder of Ben & Jerry’s and the leader of Up in Arms, he has courageously used his platform to stand up against abuses by the powerful, whether by our own government or by global corporations. Mr. Cohen’s advocacy, including his advocacy for the rights of Palestinians facing genocide in Gaza, is an inspiration to people around the world. CAIR is honored to recognize Ben Cohen with our annual Champion of Justice Award, and we invite our community members, neighbors, and friends to join us in celebrating him.”

In addition to being co-founder of Ben and Jerry’s, Mr. Cohen is the leader of Up in Arms, a movement seeking to end overspending on the Pentagon and foreign wars, and reinvest in the needs of the American people. Last year, he was arrested protesting against the Gaza genocide in the Senate.

CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.

La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
