CAIR-WA: Interfaith Leaders to Seek Comprehensive FBI Probe Into Death of Teen Found Hanging in Tree

(SEATTLE, WA, 2/28/2017) – Later today, February 28, the Washington state chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-WA), along with local interfaith leaders, will hold a news conference to call on the FBI to investigate a case in which an 18-year-old African American Muslim was found hanging from a rope from a tree in Lake Stevens, WA, and to call on the public to come forward with any information about the teen’s death. The man’s father and mother will speak at the press conference. A letter was sent to the FBI-Seattle office yesterday to request a federal investigation.

CAIR is asking for the public’s help so law enforcement can get information about the circumstances, and any persons, leading to the man’s hanging and death. Anyone with knowledge of the circumstances, and any persons, leading to the man’s hanging is asked to call the FBI-Seattle field office at 206-622-0460.

In early January, 2017, an African American Muslim teen was found dead, hanging from a rope from a tree in Lake Stevens, WA.  The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s report classified the investigation showed the manner of death as ”˜Undetermined.’ The police investigation is reportedly still open and many pieces of the case remain uninvestigated while more than a month has passed since the body was found hanging.
