(WASHINGTON, D.C., 1/10/17) – The Maryland Outreach Department of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed news that the Rockville City Police Department's Criminal Investigation Unit is investigating anti-Semitic incident targeting a Montgomery County school teacher as a hate crime.
After hanging a 'Black Lives Matter' banner from her condo, the woman's car was pelted with eggs, a tree outside her residence defaced with toilet paper and an anti-Semitic, racist note referencing gold stars that Jews were forced to wear during WWII was left on her car windshield.
“This is an example of hatred and intolerance that has no place in American society,” said CAIR Maryland Outreach Manager Dr. Zainab Chaudry. “We urge law enforcement to conduct a thorough and swift investigation, and do their due diligence to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice.”
The Washington-based Muslim civil rights group is asking Muslim community members to report any bias incidents to police and to CAIR's Civil Rights Department at 202-742-6420 or by filing a report at: http://www.cair.com/civil-rights/report-an-incident/view/form.html Â
