(WASHINGTON, D.C., 3/3/2023) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed an investigation by the US Navy into three hangman’s nooses found aboard a Navy ship based in Virginia.
Three hangman’s nooses were discovered aboard the USS Laboon, a destroyer based in Virginia. Those nooses reportedly targeted a specific service member whose name and race were not disclosed, according to the Navy Times. They were reportedly found in separate instances near the same sailor’s sleeping rack last month. The Navy is investigating the incident.
