In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) once told a newly-appointed official: “Fear the cry of the oppressed, for there is no barrier between it and God.”
The Prophet once prayed for God to pardon his people and received the reply: “I have forgiven them all but acts of oppression, for I shall exact recompense for he who is wronged, from his oppressor.” Al-Tirmidhi

CAIR Welcomes President Biden’s Historic Nomination of Ketanji Brown Jackson to U.S. Supreme Court
Civil rights group encourages senators to focus on Judge Jackson’s views regarding civil rights law, religious freedom, presidential power
CAIR encouraged senators to use Judge Jackson’s confirmation hearing to probe her legal perspective on issues related to civil rights, religious freedom, and the limits of presidential power, particularly in relation to immigration.
In a statement, CAIR National Deputy Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell said:
“We welcome President Biden’s historic nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the U.S. Supreme Court. If confirmed, Judge Jackson’s personal and professional experiences, including her work as a public defender, could enrich the court. We encourage senators who participate in the confirmation process to ask Judge Jackson about her legal views on civil rights law, religious freedom and the limits of presidential power.”
In a statement, CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said:
“We join people around the world in condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Vladimir Putin is a war criminal and a mass murderer whose attack on Ukraine is the latest in a long list of crimes he has committed around the world – from Chechnya, to Georgia, to Syria. As Muslims, our faith teaches us to stand with the oppressed against the oppressor. In the face of Russia’s war on Ukraine, we stand with the people of Ukraine.
“While our nation speaks out against Russia’s unjust attack on the Ukrainian people, we must also end our own involvement in unjust attacks on other people around the world, including Yemenis and Palestinians, and account for what we have done to Iraqis, Afghans and others. Only by exercising moral and legal consistency in foreign affairs will our nation have the moral authority to hold others accountable for violating international law.”
Afghan, Muslim Groups Call on President Biden to Return Afghan People’s National Reserves
Today, 33 Afghan-American and American Muslim organizations sent a letter to President Joe Biden expressing their strong disapproval of his administration’s recent executive order splitting $7 billion USD in frozen Afghan Central Bank funds.
Letter cosigners called on President Biden “to rescind this decision against the people of Afghanistan’s national assets before the banking sector in Afghanistan and the Afghani currency is destroyed – leading to a decade of mass starvation, mass migration, and regional insecurity.”

CAIR Welcomes Mississippi Legislation to Ease Removal of Racist Language from Property Deeds
In a statement, CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper said:
“We welcome the fact that Mississippi is joining other states in helping to remove the relics of systemic anti-Black racism and white supremacy from its legal system.”
In a statement, CAIR-Chicago Executive Director Ahmed Rehab said:
“This is a petrifying scenario that harkens back to the mass murder of 51 worshippers at the Christchurch Mosque in New Zealand by an Australian terrorist three years ago. We are grateful to the federal and local agencies that stifled an absolute disaster from repeating. The heinous plot is a reminder that the anti-Muslim and anti-Semitic narratives that remain ubiquitous can radicalize weak-minded people into committing unspeakable horrors at any moment.”
Rehab added: “A single charge count of possession of unregistered device is a slap in the face. It gives me the impression that he was out to help carve a mountain railway tunnel but forgot to register, not a mass murderer out to massacre innocent worshippers in premeditated cold calculation. We demand that terrorism charges be filed as should be obvious.”
Rehab noted that it was “disturbing and reckless” that a Chicago Tribune article even failed to mention “mosques” in the headline of its story on the case, effectively downplaying the threat that the Muslim community was under in its reporting; “that’s sloppy journalism at best,” he said.
The allegations of the Chicago plot, which were first reported by the online news site News Center Maine, prompted an outcry from the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, which called for state and federal hate crime charges to be filed against Pelkey.
“This disturbing case highlights the real threat posed by anti-Muslim bigotry, antisemitism and other forms of hate,” CAIR Deputy Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell said in a statement Wednesday.
