(WASHINGTON, D.C., 4/17/2023) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today invited community members to participate in its two-day virtual Laylatul Qadr* fundraising program on April 17 and April 18.
[*NOTE: Laylat al-Qadr (“Night of Power” or “Night of Destiny”) marks the anniversary of the night on which the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) first began receiving revelations from God through the angel Gabriel. Muslims believe Laylat al-Qadr is one of the last odd-numbered nights of Ramadan. Some Muslims spend the last 10 days of Ramadan in a local mosque. This practice is called “I’tikaf.”]
CAIR plans to feature an address from its Executive Director Nihad Awad, updates from staff members and videos from supporters in the program.
