The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today joined the US Council of Muslim Organizations (USCMO) in reminding media outlets, community organizations and mosques that starting on May 3 and continuing throughout the month of May, mosques nationwide plan to hold “National Open Mosque Day” events, during which mosques open their doors to the wider community, inviting people of all faiths and backgrounds as well as religious, civic and business leaders to explore and learn about Islam.
Starting on May 3, mosques and Islamic centers across the nation will invite members and representatives of diverse communities for visits to learn about and meet their Muslim neighbors. The theme for this year’s Open Mosque Day is “one nation under God,” emphasizing the place of Muslim communities alongside other communities of faith in American society and the shared values between them.
