WHEN: Thursday, January 30, 11 a.m.

The focus of this first town hall is to address violence, jobs and economic opportunities for youth. Over one dozen mayoral candidates have confirmed they will attend, answer questions and share their vision for the city.

The initiative is designed to center youth voices in some of Baltimore’s most underprivileged neighborhoods and address their most pressing concerns. It is being spearheaded by young leaders serving on the Youth Advisory Board for the Center for Adolescent Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School for Public Health.

Since its founding, the Youth Advisory Board’s purpose has been to advise and guide the research within the Center for Adolescent Health, provide a safe space for youth in Baltimore City to share their frustrations, and to construct ways to make the city a better place for them to grow up and live in.

The Youth Advisory Board currently holds 22 Youth Leadership Fellows, who are also Baltimore natives. Each young person on the Youth Advisory Board comes with a passion and purpose dedicated to using their voice to make the city a better place.

CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.

La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
