Passed by the US House of Representatives in December , the legislation requires the State Department to create a Special Envoy for monitoring and combating Islamophobia and include state-sponsored Islamophobic violence and impunity in the Department’s annual human rights reports. A Senate companion to the bill was introduced by Senators Cory Booker (D-NJ) and Ben Cardin (D-MD), both members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and Bernie Sanders (I-VT).

Last year, over 550 delegates participated in the National Advocacy Day. In 2019, more than 500 delegates participated.
