UT: Host Families Needed for Muslim Exchange Students

Volunteer host families are needed for several Muslim high school students that have been awarded scholarships to study in the U.S. Utah's International coordinator for student exchange, Jo Carmiol says the students are selected with an objective in mind.

The main goal of course is to improve relations and there are actual organizers in these home countries that focus on working with students and encouraging students who appear to be, have the potential of being future leaders to come to this country and to go home and then make an impact on their communities.

Carmiol says hosting an exchange student can change the perspective of the host family as well as the student, helping them to realize they are not so different.

One of the main focuses is to focus on the similarities between our countries and the similarities among us worldwide.
