In Prince William County, a Muslim state House of Delegates candidate wants to find out who circulated an anonymous flier that claims he has ties to a terrorist.
That controversy erupted Thursday in the District 51 race pitting Republican Faisal Gill against Democrat Paul Nichols. Gill is a Muslim and a U.S. Navy reserve officer.
The flier, headlined "Republicans Fear Terrorist Ties to Faisal Gill," was circulated Tuesday in the Lake Ridge area. Gill has accused his Democratic opponent of creating the flier, but Nichols and Democratic Party leaders vehemently denied it and held their own news conference to denounce it.
Gill called the allegation of terrorist connections laughable.
