(WASHINGTON, D.C., 2/28/17) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned a second wave of hoax bomb threats targeting an Owings Mills, Md., Jewish Community Center and to a Jewish elementary school in Annapolis, Md.

“An attack on one faith is an attack on all faiths. We strongly condemn these threats targeting Jewish institutions – including an elementary school – in Maryland,” said CAIR Maryland Outreach Manager Dr. Zainab Chaudry. “We urge law enforcement authorities to work swiftly to bring the perpetrators to justice. Those behind the threats should understand that they will not succeed in their agenda to promote fear.”
Earlier this month, the Jewish Center on Park Heights Avenue in Baltimore received two hoax bomb threats.

In the last week two Jewish cemeteries have been desecrated in Missouri and Pennsylvania by vandals who overturned dozens of headstones. In a gesture of solidarity, American Muslims raised over $120,000 to help repair the damage.
CAIR is America’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
