(CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA, 11/15/16) – The Iowa chapter of the Council on American-Islamic-Relations (CAIR-Iowa), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called on the FBI to investigate a hate note left outside the home of a Sudanese-American family in that state.
Iowa City police are investigating the note, which read: “You can go home now, we don't want n—— and terrorists here, #trump.”

“Because this is just the latest in a growing number of post-election hate incidents targeting American Muslims and other minority groups, we urge the FBI to add its resources to the investigation,†said CAIR-Iowa Executive Director Miriam Amer.
CAIR has noted a spike in incidents targeting American Muslims and other minority groups since the November 8 presidential election and has called on President-elect Trump to speak out against Islamophobia.
Yesterday, the Washington-based Muslim civil rights organization said that newly-released FBI hate crime statistics showing a 67 percent jump in anti-Muslim incidents in 2015 should push the nation’s leaders to repudiate growing Islamophobia.
CAIR is America's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
La misión de CAIR es mejorar la comprensión del Islam, fomentar el diálogo, proteger las libertades civiles, capacitar a los musulmanes estadounidenses, y construir coaliciones que promuevan la justicia y la comprensión mutua.
