(WASHINGTON D.C., 7/18/2022) – The Kentucky chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-KY), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned antisemitic remarks posted on the Facebook page of the Bracken County Republican Party.
The post attacked the new director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) for being Jewish. “The Jewish junta is getting stronger and more aggressive,” the post read. The post was deleted after The Courier Journal asked the party’s chairman about it. The chairman claimed the page was hacked. The Kentucky Republican Party condemned the post. Three Kentucky Republican lawmakers were criticized by Jewish groups for antisemitic comments made during this year’s General Assembly.

“We condemn this deeply disturbing antisemitic post and urge the party to launch a full investigation and hold those responsible to account,” said CAIR-KY Board Chair Salah Shakir. “Antisemitism and other forms of bigotry and racism cannot be tolerated in our state.”
He said CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, and white supremacy.
