(SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ, 8/21/2022) – On Monday, August 22, the New Jersey chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NJ) will join partner organizations at a press conference in Edison, N.J., to call on local leaders to rebuke the offensive use of a bulldozer – which in India symbolizes societal division and anti-Muslim sentiment – at the India Independence Day parade in Edison and Woodbridge, N.J. (NOTE: the parade passed through both towns.)
CAIR-NJ and the other organizations will also seek an apology from the Indian Business Association, which had organized the parade.

CAIR’s Los Angeles office recently called on state and federal law enforcement authorities to investigate an alleged bias-motivated assault on those protesting against the persecution of religious minorities and caste discrimination in India at a similar India Independence Day event in Anaheim, Calif.
