(WASHINGTON, D.C., 5/18/2023) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned an incident of racist harassment targeting a Black family in Homewood, Alabama.
Several members of the family were returning home on Monday when a car reportedly slowed down in front of their house and several people in the car allegedly shouted “White power” at them. The incident was reportedly captured on the family’s doorbell camera.

“No family should be subjected to racist harassment anywhere, much less outside their own home,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper.
He said CAIR and the Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
