(WASHINGTON, D.C., 6/10/23) – On Monday, June 12, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, will hold a news conference on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., to release a report, titled “Twenty Years Too Many, A Call to Stop the FBI’s Secret Watchlist,” as the 20th anniversary of the FBI’s Terrorism Screening Database approaches in September.
[MEDIA NOTE: Media professionals may request an embargoed copy of the report by contacting CAIR Senior Litigation Attorney Gadeir Abbas, Gabbas@cair.com.]
One of the latest high-profile victims of the unconstitutional watchlist is New Jersey’s longest-serving Muslim mayor, Mohamed T. Khairullah of Prospect Park, N.J., who had his invitation to the White House Eid al-Fitr celebration based on that list.

The introduction to CAIR’s watchlist report states in part:
“For now over twenty years, the FBI has detained, surveilled, harassed, and destroyed the lives of innocent Muslims. The public record amply documents how these abuses, inflicted via always-expanding FBI powers, led not to a reduction in terrorism, but painful, farcical, and often dangerous abuses of Muslims…
“It has long been clear to the Muslim community that the FBI’s list is nothing more than a list of innocent Muslims…Of the watchlist entries we’ve reviewed, we estimate that more than 1.47 million of those entries regard Muslims – over 98 percent of the total…”
The release of CAIR’s watchlist report will take place during the 8th annual National Muslim Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., hosted by the U.S. Council of Muslim Organizations (USCMO), a coalition of leading national and local Muslim organizations.
