(WASHINGTON, D.C., 7/25/2023) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed the sentencing of the perpetrator of racist harassment targeting a Black people in Milwaukee, Wisc..
A man from the Milwaukee suburb of West Allis has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for vandalizing a Black woman’s car and leaving racist notes to her in March 2021. About a year later, according to the complaint, the man vandalized another Black woman’s front door with racist graffiti after she moved into his apartment complex.

“We welcome the sentencing in this disturbing case and thank law enforcement authorities for stepping in before this individual further acted on his racist hate,” said CAIR National Communications Manager Ismail Allison.
He noted that CAIR welcomed the perpetrator’s guilty plea back in March.

Allison said Washington, D.C., based CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
