(MINNEAPOLIS, MN, 10/06/23) – Later today, Friday, October 6, the Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MN) will join one of the families of five female Muslims killed in a recent June car crash and University of Minnesota – Rochester community to remember their loved daughter and community member.
The event, titled “In loving memory of Sahra Gesaade,” will highlight Sahra’s community contributions and impact. The scholarship program will be revealed at this event.

Sahra Liban Gesaade, 20 along with her friends Salma Mohamed Abdikadir, 20; Sagal Burhaan Hersi, 19; Siham Adan Odhowa, 19 and Sabiriin Mohamoud Ali, 17 were killed in a fatal collision last June. Sahra was a well-respected and active volunteer with both Muslim community and Rochester community. She was awarded a scholarship to attend the University of Minnesota Rochester this fall before her life was cut short. At this event, the University of Minnesota will award scholarship named after Sahra and community will celebrate the life of Sahra Gesaade.
