(ST. LOUIS, MO, 10/14/2023) – The Missouri chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Missouri) today condemned a X (formerly Twitter) post by a professor at Washington University in St. Louis allegedly calling for the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians and claiming they are not “humans.”
In his comments responding to another post saying that “Israel is engaged in the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians,” Seth Crosby, Director of Partnerships and Alliances in the Department of Genetics at Washington University reportedly wrote: “It is a much needed cleansing, yes, but not an ethnic one. Israel is not targeting humans.”
As of today, at least 1,900 people have been killed by Israeli strikes in Gaza, including 614 children and 370 women, while 7,696 people have been wounded.

“It is unconscionable that a professor at a Missouri institution of higher education would allegedly call for the ethnic cleansing of any population and would seek to dehumanize the target of that crime against humanity,” said CAIR-Missouri Board Chair Yasir Ali. “We urge Washington University to investigate this troubling incident and to take appropriate action.”
